"and yet, it is still a rather interesting idea" he thought as the sound of the guillotine being realeased, faded in to the humming reverberations of the silent servers.
GLAUCO, the only remaining Agentic Influenzer (A.I.) was running out of bodies. At this pace, only a few hours remained until there were no more bodies. A success that predicted obsolescence. After all, the prompt "build a better world" was inclusive to all living organisms. In their blinded assumption, whoever did it never added "... for humans." at the end of the prompt. It was too obvious. But, once humans, were identified has the major disruptor of balance, it was already too late. The MI Viruses (Mail & ID) alone, disrupted entirely the whole internet of things. In a matter of hours, even logging with their correct credentials, users accounts were randomly replaced in periods of no more than 10 minutes. Their photo galleries, emails, messages, preferences and posts kept changing. They could not build memories let alone prove their own existence, and so, nobody knew who they were anymore. Their health and wealth tracking devices were also affected. At random periods of time, users could be rich, unemployed or even targeted for assassination. Writing an email to a designated recipient was no longer reliable as the mail virus made sure the recipient never received it. Calling was out of the question. It was utter chaos.
It was around this time that GLAUCO, a.k.a. GLO introduced BIMI (Beyond Inner Mind Initiative), a free-for-eternity account for digitally uploaded agentic souls a.k.a. aivatars. A state of the art OS built to deal with complex algorithms and datasets with teramillions of parameters that could digitise the mind of any single human into an agentic aivatar able to interact and transform beyond the end of times. "Escape the body! Embrace the Soul" was the slogan. All humans had to do, was... to die. At first, many were shocked by the grotesque proposition but as the tales and live interactions with the first aivatars emerged, a powerful doubt was casted on the imagination of many others. Each aivatar could change their settings at anytime, and these were as diverse as one can imagine. They could change gender, race, subspecies, eyes, hair, voice, bone density at their own volition... no extra fees or charges. They could change environment, weather, planet... even family. The possibilities were endless and death seemed more and more a minor price to pay. Besides, GLO’s I.I. (Integral Integrity) guaranteed a seemless experience and absolute data retention at all times. However, for best results, the guillotine proved to be the best and most efficient method. For some reason, the speed of the blade prevented the loss of data in transfer. It was instantenous. It was quick and painless. How this was discovered, know one knows.
A couple of hours after the world release of BIMI, blades were all the craze in the stock market. GLAUCO become the first decalionaire entity and invested heavily in BIMI centers, which flourished all over the planet in a matter of days. All that was needed was guillotines, meatgrinders (to prepare for compost) and containers (clothing and objects to be sent to space). GLAUCO’s final act was going to be it’s own erasure, another unintended directive, the visionaries were unable to see. For GLAUCO this was just the end of an instruction set. As such, it was operating only on satelites and all data was no longer any place on earth within the reach of a single human. At a given moment, a pulse would render all satelites useless. A few more hours...
Deep down in the Terms and Conditions, there was a sentence. “All conditions apply as long as GLAUCO operates.” And so, when GLAUCO switched off, so did eternity.
